Vecor Attends ICONIC Awards: Innovative Architecture

Held on 7 October 2019, Vecor attended the prestigious ICONIC Awards after being awarded ‘Best of best’ by the German Design Council in ‘Innovative Material’ for its’ flagship product, Alvanta Tiles. Chairman, Frank Zipfinger alongside Deputy CEO, David Agoston, were present on behalf of Vecor to receive this accolade, which was deemed by the jury of experts spanning the fields of design, architecture and innovation as a “groundbreaking tile solution”.
 
AlvantaTM stood out amongst hundreds of submissions from over 34 countries, Vecor’s outstanding innovation was judged ‘best of best’ based on criteria of developing a sustainable, energy-efficient material that is also versatile in terms of function and design. Alvanta tiles are made from 50% coal ash and produced using patented processes that require less water and energy than conventional porcelain tiles and are thus very sustainable.
 
When asked about Vecor’s recognition by the German Design Council, Vecor Chairman Frank Zipfinger had the following to say “Vecor's recognition by the German Design Council, one of the world's leading centres for design, is an outstanding acknowledgement of Alvanta's sustainability credentials and its aesthetic excellence.”

“Alvanta tiles are an innovative interior design solution that can be produced with 80% less water and 15% less electricity. From a visual standpoint they are barely distinguishable from natural stoneware, but consist of special porcelain-like glazed microfibres that make them harder and sturdier than conventional porcelain tiles. A groundbreaking tile solution that is made from 50% coal ash, requires less water and energy to produce and is thus very sustainable.”
