Vecor's Systema Leonardo honored at SEAL Sustainability Awards

Vecor’s innovative green technology, Systema LeonardoTM , was recognised as one of the most sustainable companies in the world by the SEAL Awards on Feb 12. It was honoured as a sustainable initiative that is leading the building materials manufacturing industry towards a circular economy model. The SEAL awards also gave out honours to 40 other companies for their sustainability initiatives in other sectors. Among these recipients were Adidas, Disneyland Resorts, AMD and Coca Cola Turkey.

All award entry fees from the SEAL Awards have been contributed to SEAL’s ongoing Environmental Research Grant initiative, which has to date provided funding to 19 environmental researchers at institutions like UC-Berkeley, Duke, MIT, and UCLA.

Review Process

The SEAL Environmental Initiative Award honors specific environmental and sustainability initiatives.  Key criteria for selection includes: Impact Metrics, Innovation, Sharing of Insights, and Investment Levels. We believe that those investing into extraordinary sustainability leadership should be lauded and celebrated and seen as the leaders for sustainable change.

“It's great to see an awards body putting their funds into action. The research that SEAL is funding today, will become the sustainable solutions and technology we see implemented in years to come” – Erik Severin, Vecor Director of R&D

About Systema Leonardo

Systema Leonardo is a production process that is able to produce a high-quality building material without equal. The porcelain-like material that it produces is significantly stronger and more durable than the most stringent international standards for porcelain tiles.

The process also has a substantially reduced environmental footprint, saving up to 70% virgin raw materials by using recycled fly ash as a primary material. It also uses 80% less water and 15% less energy, the primary factor for this saving is the removal of wet-ball milling and spray drying.
